Word Search

This week I started a month long break from Facebook. This is the second year I've done it as part of my observance of the season of Lent. I remember how good it felt last year and how I planned to limit my use of that platform. After the month was over I slowly went back to my old habit of mindless scrolling.

Last year I remember it being hard to stop looking at it. I had to hide the links on my phone so it would be harder to get to it. Over time it got easier.

This year it seems to be no problem at all. One thing I knew I needed to do was find something to replace the time I spent scrolling. I haven't found a new knitting project to start yet and I didn't want to spend my time staring at You Tube videos. I was looking for something on a the shelf under my coffee table when I found a book of word search puzzles.

I opened it and saw that I had completed half the puzzles in the book. I thumbed through the pages and saw that this book had number searches and various versions of word searches such as puzzles where the words were in a square of other shapes. This was the answer to my problem. Working on these puzzles would be a good substitute for online scrolling.

As I was tidying up the kitchen I found a small pile of puzzle books that someone had given me. There was also a cat themed book that I vaguely remember buying about a year ago. This along with the diamond art projects I want to complete and hopefully finding a new knitting project would definitely be better things to do in my downtime.

A couple evenings ago I started working on the puzzles in the first book I found. I'd forgotten how much I enjoyed word searches. I'm looking forward to diving into my stash of books and maybe discovering other types of word puzzles to work on. maybe I'll even get bold enough to try doing crosswords.....
