Spring

It may be just a vicious rumor, but I think spring just might be here now. The tulips are showing up in the garden in even larger clumps than usual. The grass is turning green. There are strange dark steaks across the front yard which I think just might be shadows of the trees. If the trees are casting shadows then that light in the sky must be the sun.

I haven't been complaining about the weather the past few months because complaining doesn't do anything. The snow and rain will still fall and the clouds will still continue to cover the sky. The best thing to do is just move on and find thing to do inside. (Like finish the baby blanket I started a few months ago)

Spring is the reward nature gives us after the winter months. After months of dormancy and cold, the sun begins to warm up the earth. Birds come out to build nests. Trees and bushes begin to bud. People start to come out of their houses.

There are signs of spring in our home. Scamp has been sitting in nearly every window in the house alert for animals that may harm his humans. C is starting to clean out the garage, get rid of things we don't need and raking the grass. We have a state park pass and a season pass for the Cannon Valley bike trail. C is also inspecting the bikes and getting them ready to ride.

I'm thinking of the garden and what we can plant. I'd like to plant more veggies so we can share with my parents who won't be able to have a garden of their own this year. (They moved to a senior apartment last fall.) I'm contemplating planting some raspberry bushes around the edge of our backyard. We are also considering what kind of tree we will plant to replace the ash that we had to cut down last fall. Most likely it's going to be some sort of evergreen tree.

We are hoping to do a bike rise tomorrow.  It's going to feel good to get outside and exercise in the fresh air. Welcome Spring!
