Everything Changes

Lots of changes have happened the last week or so. There were two big changes announced at General Conference two weeks ago. The first is that church is not going to be three hours long anymore. Lots of people are very happy about this. The second change was that members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints no longer refer to themselves as Mormon or LDS. I can understand this. We don't call Roman Catholics "Papsists". We don't call other faith that are Bible based "Bibleists". I have never understood why it is all right to call members of The Church of Jesus Christ by the name of one of our books of scripture. As a sign that the Church Leadership mean business on this  one, the name of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir was changed to The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square.
We're on our annual vacation to Door County and there are more changes.
Our room has been redecorated. The big armoire is gone and there is a dresser in it's place. There's a big screen TV on the wall that is much easier to use than the old one. I have a desk to write at now. The curtains are dark blue with white blinds and there are two chairs across from the couch to sit on. Even the bed is different. It has a large quilted headboard and a lot of show pillows. The alarm clock has a place to plug in our cell phones and the Ipad.
The tub in the bathroom has a small curtain around it and the towel bar has been moved. (I wish it were still in the same spot.) I also miss the pegs where we could hang up our coats.
I like the new fridge that has ice in it and plenty of room to store some things to drink. There's a nice set up with ice buckets, cloth napkins and all kinds glasses.
The Serendipity Restaurant has closed after only one season. We didn't mind that so much. It wasn't that good and it was expensive. The Shipwreck brew pub that burned down last year has been rebuilt although I'm not sure it is open for business.
The British import store is gone. We knew that would happen. The owner wanted to retire and it looks like no one wanted to buy the business. At least there is another store in that space. It would be so sad to see it sitting empty.
There were changes at the Fall Festival in Sister Bay. The American Legion did not have any booya. The only booya was chicken and it was all right, but I wouldn't eat it again. There seemed to be a few missing booths. At least the alpacas were still there. The parade still had bag pipers and high school marching bands. There was also a small marching band of University of Wisconsin students. They were good.
Piggly Wiggly will be getting a new building. I'm happy about that. I love Piggly Wiggly, it's a good grocery store. You have to love a store who has a mascot named Mr. Pig.
The place where we buy locally produced maple syrup is still running. They still have the same things in stock. I think they are stocking more honey. I saw a container of honeycomb for sale. I was tempted to buy it, but we already have plenty of honey.
There is a large lavender farm on Washington Island.  They have  a new shop in Fish Creek selling some of the products from that farm. I was happy to see that. The lady that was minding the store said that there has been a great demand for products from the farm. C had a nice chat with her.
We went to find the music store we always stop into and the space she was in was empty. It looked like she had also gone out of business. C went to another store next door to find out what happened. While he did that I went into a rock and gem store that I'd never seen before. In a few minutes C came back with good news. She had not closed, she had moved to another space. We went to look for her only to find that she was closed for the day. Oh well, we'll catch her on another day.
I'm sure there are more changes out there and we will find them as we explore the peninsula this week. It'll be fun to see.....
