Black&Gold vs Green&Gold

We are going to have a mini-war at our house this weekend.  The NCAA Division 1 playoffs are upon us. This weekend the North Dakota State Bison will be playing the Wofford Terriers. As most of you know I am a graduate of NDSU and a big Bison fan. What you may not know is that C attended Wofford.
C does like the Bison and roots for them whenever they play. There's only one exception. If NDSU plays Wofford, then he roots, loudly and with great enthusiasm, for the Terriers.
I think you see what's coming.
For the second time in our marriage, our two teams will be pitted against each other.
The first time it happened, several years ago, both of us were taken off guard. What were the chances of my small college in North Dakota playing his small college in South Carolina?
We were not able to get the game on TV the first time it happened, but we could tune in on a laptop computer. I remember the two of us sitting in the kitchen. Both of us had Sunday School lessons to teach the next day. We sat side by side preparing our lessons with the laptop between us. Every so often I would let out a "Go Bison!" or C would call out "Go Terriers!" We watched the entire game. I got a little nervous. The Terriers were good and making the Bison work hard. In the end, the Bison won and went on to win the national championship that year.
We got through that game all right. Fortunately, C had no ill feelings against NDSU for snuffing out Wofford's championship hopes. We both got a chuckle out of it. I don't think either of us thought it would happen again.
Then this year's college football season started. Both Wofford and NDSU were doing well. Each of them had good records. C and I began to wonder, could it happen again? Could our teams wind up playing each other?
The answer is yes. Wofford will be making another trip to the Fargodome to play the Bison.
I'm not going to be able to watch the game this year due to a prior commitment so I will be silently cheering them on from where I am. C is going to have his eyes glued to his phone watching every play and loudly cheering on the Terriers.
The good news about this is that I don't mind Wofford. I would, of course, prefer a Bison victory, but if the Terriers win it will be all right. After all, Blitz III, the live mascot for the team is pretty cute. You just can't get mad at a face like that. If Wofford wins and then goes on to defeat James Madison, well that would be even better......
