Home Improvements

C and I have a weekend off together. This is pretty rare. Both of us have been talking about doing some things around the house. Since the weather is going to be bad (because I have the time off..), this weekend will be perfect to tackle some of those projects. Yesterday we went shopping.
We bought some drapes. The ones we have were the ones that came with the house when we bought it. Essentially it was some cream coloured cloth on some kind of hooks covering the big picture window. It was all right, but the fabric was coming off the hooks and it just flat out looked cheap. We got some nice sage green drapes. Since there is not much green in the living room we got a couple of green pillows. One project we have will be to hang the drapes.
I had planted some lily of the valley around the deck. A week or so ago I didn't see anything and thought that the plants had died. Yesterday, I saw not only green shoots coming out but flowers. There were tiny white flowers on some of the plants. I got so excited that I told C we had to go to the greenhouse. Things were growing. We need to put plants in the garden. Now. We bought some tomatoes, peppers, an eggplant and some flowers to put in the garden. If it stays dry.
Both of us have finally had enough of the messy storage room. We made a half hearted effort to organize it a year or so ago and never finished it. Yesterday we went to Menards. We got three sturdy sets of storage shelves. It's time to organize that space. We got two racks to hang winter coats and other items that we may not be using. We got a pair of shoe racks so the shoes are in one place. We are hoping to get everything off the floor and put away so we can find it easily. In the process we will also throw out or give away things we no longer want or need.
We're going to to start on this....after a trip to the Arboretum to smell the lilacs....
