I like YouTube
One of the things I'm grateful for is that I grew up in a time before computers and the internet. I was fortunate to have avoided the pitfalls caused by social media and the trend of videotaping things so your mistakes and bad times can never be forgotten.
I'm especially grateful for YouTube. That site has been one of the most useful sites I know.
I started watching things on YouTube back during the pandemic. Washington National Cathedral had a short morning prayer program every weekday morning. The organists at the Tabernacle in Salt Lake City would give an online recital once a week called Piping Up. Since I like pipe organ music I tuned in faithfully.
From there I started branching out. I liked to watch videos about history, fashion and the United Kingdom's Royal Family. I found an Orthodox Jewish doctor that did videos about life as a Orthodox Jew. I enjoyed those videos because she showed how they celebrate holidays and Shabbat. She did videos on shopping for kosher food and cooking. She also did videos on cleaning her home, time management, organizing her kitchen and her morning routine and Torah study. I like her cooking videos the best. She did one video where she did a kosher meal prep using only ingredients she had on hand. There's a couple recipes that I have saved so I can try them.
I enjoy watching videos created by a young former flight attendant. It was interesting to watch all the things she would do on layovers from the flights she worked. She quit her job, moved in with her fiancé in Bali and makes videos about life in Bali and the places they travel to. They also live part of the time in the United Arab Emirates and she's done a few videos on her life there. I'm not much of a traveler, but I enjoy seeing the places that she goes to and the things that she does when she travels.
I like watching videos created by a British historian. He has a wide range of videos on all kinds of things from people to objects to obscure things like churches out in the middle of nowhere in England. He did a series of videos about coronations a few years back. Last year he did a series on papal funerals, coffins and conclaves. My favorites are the ones he does on crowns and various pieces of regalia from different countries. I especially like the crown of Princess Blanche, it's a beautiful creation decorated with pearls and coloured stones.
Lately I've become interested in cooking tofu. I've always liked ordering tofu dishes whenever we have Asian take out and I like the sofritas at Chipotle. I usually marinate my tofu and bake it, then eat it with rice or noodles. I wanted to get other ideas for making tofu and other dishes that I can use it in. This has led me to a couple of You tube cooking channels from people who make vegan food. I have found a few recipes that I think I could make and other ideas to add variety to my tofu dishes.
I'm grateful for the yoga and other exercise classes that I can get on YouTube. It allows me to stay in shape without having to venture out to gyms and group classes.
I'm glad that YouTube exists and grateful the content creators who put their work on it.
